New England Shidokan Karate was founded by Sensei Jay Brousseau in 2008 to be the ultimate family karate dojo (school). Since that time, Sensei Jay's sister, Sensei Sarah Brousseau, joined the team and together they have made New England Shidokan the premier dojo that it is today. With a combined 67 years of traditional Okinawan Karate experience, they are dedicated to giving you and your family the best and most comprehensive martial arts experience available. You and your family will be expertly guided on your own path to Black Belt and beyond. At New England Shidokan you will learn true karate which is more than just the moves. You will be taught Okinawan culture, history, basic Japanese language, and values. Each class will build respect, discipline, focus, and confidence. Sensei Jay Brousseau
Head Instructor/VP
Sensei Jay is the senior ranking teacher of Shorinryu Shidokan Karate in New England. With more than 34 years of experience in traditional Okinawan Karate he holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in the Beikoku Shidokan Association. In addition to being the Head Instructor, he is also the Vice President of New England Shidokan Karate. His sincere passion for teaching has made Sensei Jay the premier instructor for karate students of all ages.
Sensei Sarah Brousseau
Instructor/President
Sensei Sarah has over 33 years experience in traditional Okinawan Karate. She holds a 4th degree black belt in the Beikoku Shidokan Association and is the President here at New England Shidokan Karate. If that weren't enough, she is also a full time Registered Nurse!
Senpai Ashley
Youth Instructor
Senpai Ashley is New England Shidokan's primary youth instructor. She is beginning her studies in Early Childhood Education and her passion for working with our Super Samurai and Youth students is clearly demonstrated in every class that she helps Sensei Jay with.
